Private Instruction

                                

Tuition 

Tuition is $68.00 per month (30 minute lessons), $95/month (45 minutes), or $115.00 per month (hour lessons).   Payment for August also includes September lessons.  The rate for December will be half price.  Scholarship students – as per your band’s policy (varies).

 

The tuition amount is the same every month; you will average 4 lessons per month over the course of a year.  There is no extra charge for months with 5 lessons, nor is there a discount for months with 3 lessons with the exception of December as noted above.   Tuition includes monthly master classes with pizza party, routine instrument maintenance (valve oil, slide cream, etc.), sheet music for solo and ensemble contest (spring semester) and extra events including recitals and mock auditions.    

 

Tuition in full is due the first week of every month

 

A $5 per week late fee will be charged for payments received after the 7th day of the month.  Repeated failure to pay on time may result in termination of lessons.    You may mail in the tuition to avoid a late fee if you miss the first lesson of the month.

Absences

 

Students should call the instructor 24 hours in advance of any absence.   An alternate makeup time will be offered.  Absences without notifying the instructor in advance will not be made up nor refunded.   There are no discounts or refunds for skipped lessons, vacations, or holidays.    Students who become ill should notify the instructor via phone if they cannot attend a lesson.   Missed makeup lessons will not be rescheduled, nor refunded.  

 

Instrument

 

A properly functioning instrument of the is required at every lesson.  Students should consult with a private teacher prior to purchasing an instrument to assist you in the selection of a quality instrument, which will allow the student to reach their maximum potential.

Tardy

 

Please understand that if you are late to a lesson, I may not be able to make up that time due to scheduling constraints.

 

Practice

 

Private lesson assignments are in addition to any material assigned in the student’s band class.   Daily, at home practice is required if the student is to progress in their music studies.  Students are expected to prepare assignments for each lesson, with a minimum of 30 minutes of practice time per day.

 

Performances  

 

Music is a performing art, therefore students are expected to participate in a spring solo and ensemble contest (if offered by their school), and are expected to participate in monthly master classes.  Students of sufficient ability will be encouraged to audition for all-city and all-region band each fall (public school students) and all students are encouraged to participate in recitals in December and May.
